This website is devoted to linguistic topics, including Formal
Syntax, Grammar of Contemporary Chinese, Semantics, etc.. It 
is intended as a growing resource for those who would like to 
understand the structure of language and want to know more 
about the mechanism of the mind's activity.

This website was founded in the summer vacation of 1998. Since
then, I spare a lot of time to expand and maintain this web. 

Initially, I just regard building up a website like this one 
as an insignificant exercise of using Microsoft Frontpage. 
As more and more contents were collected from many different 
channels, I began to be aware that the website can be possibly 
used as a portal, namely a gateway, through which you can get
a lot of links to other wonderful websites to acquire the infor-
mation about the up-to-date issues of linguistic researches 
and the development of Chinese Information Processing in China.
At the same time, I also can take advantage of this website to 
show you what I have done in these fields.

For my own limitations on natural languages other than my 
mother tongue, the contents in this website are almost written
in Chinese. And I talks here in most part about Mandarin 
Chinese, especially the syntax and semantics of Contemporary
Common  Chinese, i.e. Pu Tong Hua. There are also some contents
related to Natural Language Processing, a field focuses on
using electronic computer to imitate human speech and process
information coded in various natural languages.
